Setup help and answers for Thought Inbox on iPhone and Apple Watch.

Hands-free Watch capture

  1. On iPhone, open Shortcuts and add Capture Thought to My Shortcuts.
  2. Open the shortcut’s details and turn on Show on Apple Watch.
  3. In the Watch app, open Accessibility › AssistiveTouch › Hand Gestures.
  4. Set Tap to Forward, Double Tap to Siri Shortcut › Capture Thought, and Clench to Tap.
  5. Double Tap to dictate. Single Tap moves focus to Done, then Clench confirms and saves.

A thought is not appearing on iPhone

  1. Keep Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled on both devices.
  2. Open Thought Inbox on iPhone and Watch once.
  3. On iPhone, open Settings › Connection Doctor and tap Run Connection Test.
  4. If anything is waiting, tap Retry Waiting Thoughts. The Watch keeps a local copy until transfer succeeds.

The shortcut is missing on Watch

App actions and personal shortcuts are different. AssistiveTouch selects a personal shortcut, so first add Capture Thought to My Shortcuts and enable Show on Apple Watch. Allow a moment for Shortcuts to sync, then reopen the gesture picker.

AI Cleanup and subscriptions

Capture, Watch sync, local storage, search, editing, and export are free. The optional monthly subscription unlocks AI Cleanup for individual thoughts and daily summaries. Purchases can be restored from Settings and managed in your App Store account.
